How I Found Isometrics: The Core Of My Method

When I was a young man, I was small. Smaller than most people actually. It wasn't just that I was small, I was also skinny. Needless to say I was incredibly weak. To be honest between the ages of 9-11 I didn't really think too much about my physical strength. I was bullied of course, but the idea of physically fighting never came to mind. Even when I was chased home by those bullies on 3 separate occasions. Fighting or increasing my strength just wasn't something I concerned myself with. I enjoyed reading, and writing, and playing video games. Why did I need to get stronger? How did I even go about it? I had no guidance or any method as a kid, and no one really galvanized me into caring about it.

Everything changed however when I entered the 7th and 8th Grade. I switched Schools because I hated the environment of my last one. I was bullied again, but this time by kids who as smart or even smarter than me. I was bullied not only intellectually, but physically as well. Even still that didn't change my mind on exercise one bit.

There was one person who did though. His name was Brandon, and he was the person who changed everything for me. I'll make a video talking more depth about my "Rival" but just know without him I'd be a totally different person.

Brandon was someone who both strong and smart. Tall and funny. He was athletic, but was one of the most intelligent guys I knew. I wanted to be just like him. No, I wanted to be better. I wanted to be as tall as him, as fast as him, and his strong as he was. I learned how strong Brandon was through an arm wrestle and I lost spectacularly. I actually was so weak that I even lost arm wrestles to girls. Even that didn't motivate me. However Brandon did. He was a perfect storm in my mind. He was everything I wanted to be.

The problem was however I had no idea what I needed to do in order to obtain his strength. So I googled, literally, "what is the fastest way to get strong". That's how I found Isometric-training.com. It was a website created by Paul J O'Brien where he laid the foundation for his strength and showed a picture of himself literally holding a man above his head with one arm. It was mind-blowing to 13 year old me.

I absorbed as much information as I could from him. I read all his articles and googled more exercises I could. I created a simple full body exercising routine that I could accomplish literally 10 minutes before I walked to the bus before school. Let me tell you, my strength EXPLODED! Not only was I going through puberty at the time, so I was gaining muscle to begin with, but Isometrics took my strength to levels above and beyond my friends in record time.

I went to from losing every arm wrestle I ever did, to beating people like it was nothing. Literally guys who had bigger muscles than me and exercised for years couldn't handle my strength. I never reached those super human levels of strength that Paul and many others using Isometrics did, but Lord knows I wanted to. The strength gains I obtained, combined with learning Jeet Kune Do changed my entire outlook on life. Before I was terrified of anyone and everyone who was mean to me, but now I had the strength, techniques, and practice to be confident enough to fight anyone who wanted to challenge me. Lucky for me, I never had to, but having that metaphorical gun in my pocket made me feel like my own Hero nonetheless.

Depression and School took my mind off these incredible exercises, which is the reason why I stopped training with them. I wish I had stayed consistent with them in hindsight now. Isometrics are without a shadow of a doubt some of the best exercises to use PERIOD. In the next article I'm going to detail what Isometrics are and how explain why they are the foundation of which I will build this exercising program in my mind. Not only have I learned that isometrics can increase your strength and lean muscle mass, but I also learned they are great for Fat loss well. I'm going to go over everything I know and thoroughly explain why I'm using these exercises as a Core principle to my training.

Thanks for reading. :D

I Shall Call It...the EXPLOSION METHOD!

I've only recently wanted to create my own form of Fitness training. It is not some long held dream I've always had. To be frank I never wanted to be a fitness YouTuber or Blogger for that matter. What convinced me to start creating this method was a realization. Modern Fitness is filled with a lot of garbage.

There's such a focus on "looking good for the Summer", or the "Hollywood Six pack abs", which is a very unrealistic expectation forced upon men, (more information of that in the future). I feel that Fitness has lost most of it's meaning. In fact, the primary reason why people are even into Fitness nowadays to get clicks on Instagram. Women mostly only exercise their lower body half just to get the "Instagram Booty" and get a sponsorship. Or you have people who legitimately want to lose weight, but get trapped in a cycle that never really addresses the issues that they have.

Now, let me be clear . I'm not saying there isn't any Fitness YouTubers out there putting out good information. I'll name some that you should check out right now actually. You have Jeff Cavaliere from athleanx.com, Pure Bullfit, the Tapp Brothers, Elliot Hulse, Everyday Damn Fitness, just off the top of my head. After combing the web for years I've found many men who inspired me. They've given me most of the information and ideas I will present to you in the upcoming weeks and months to come. I love each other their channels, ideas, and have learned so, so, so much. Don't think I'm just saying that everyone is only into Fitness to look good, however there's a lot more people wanting to get be sexy while naked, rather than being strong and powerful.

That's what my focus is. It's my firm belief that looking great will be a result of BEING GREAT. Looking sexy or good in the mirror should be the result gained from having function strength that can actually help you in life. That's what I want. I want REAL strength. I want EXPLOSIVE power, and hand to hand combat skills that will keep me alive, or at the very least grant me some degree of confidence. This is what I want to strive to gain. I want strength that can be be developed quickly and efficiently.

A lot of models of modern exercises are very time consuming. P90X from Tony Horton gave us Hour long exercises. He modified it in P90X 2 and later P90X 3, but the fact remains that a lot of people don't wanna spend hours in the gym. I certainly don't. There was also the need for equipment and weights and whatnot that I just didn't have the money to spend.

Sean-T had the Insanity Trilogy as well, with a fantastic idea. Max Interval Training. It was basically a super long form of High Intensity Interval training, otherwise known as HIIT. The basic idea is to work out at a High Intensity for short periods of time, rest for a short period and then redo the round. Insanity was cranked to the MAX, meaning you put in maximum effort for a long time, rest slightly, and then go on and on.

While Insanity is a fantastic cardio and fat burning exercise workout, it doesn't seem to do much in the way of functional strength that I want. It was about creating a body that could work at it's maximum for a long time, but to what end? If I'm just some guy minding my own business in a desk job, why do I need this much cardio? Why would I need this much effort?

Insanity went through a few revisions I never tried out for myself. Which means more functional training was probably included in it. However, I can say that overall it is great but not at all what I wanted.

I was also never interested in building size either. I wanted a lean body that held an impact when striking that allowed for flexibility and grace. In that respect, Insanity would do the job very well, however something was missing. That was strength building. Power building for my punches and kicks.

Let me be clear here, I'm not saying you shouldn't do P90X or Insanity, I'm explaining that it didn't give me what I wanted. Honestly I think everyone should look into both programs. This also includes all of Jeff's Athlean X program's too. I'm a firm believer in absorbing what is useful, and discarding what is not. After saying all this you might be asking? "Well what the heck do you want then!?" Well let me tell you.

I keep repeating it over and over again. I want strength and power. Strength enough to rip a phone book in half. Impressive superman strength in a small frame that will blow everyone's mind. The type of strength and speed that Bruce Lee had. He was a marvel of what the human body could achieve. I want to experience what it was like to have that power and strength.

How do I go about achieving it though? That's the question I've asked myself and is the purpose of me developing my own Program or rather Routine at first to try to obtain. In a simple method that doesn't make me big and bulky. It keeps me lean, but explosive and fast and grants me the endurance I need to keep on going like the Energizer Bunny.

Here's the skinny. I intend of combining Three...you heard me...THREE different forms of training into one master system or exercise Routine. Perhaps even Four. I'm going to be combining Isometrics, Plyometrics, Lean Hybrid Muscle training, and HIIT interval training into one Program to gain superhuman strength in a small or lean frame, and endurance to use that power I have obtained. In the coming articles I'm going to be breaking down and explaining each form of exercising and why I'm including them in my thought process and creation. There's going to be a lot of Experimental workouts I'll give up for free so you Readers can give me feedback while I try to create it.

The name I will give this program...if I ever sell it...which I probably won't...will be the Boosted Explosion Method! It's silly, but I like silly stuff you won't forget.

A New Beginning! Fitness and Philosophy: The Game Plan

Hello, my name on the Internet is BASSFZz, otherwise know as Zerse. I started streaming on Twitch.tv/BASSFZz and I want to start writing short articles for my very own blog. This post here is just to give you guys a brief introduction is what this blog will become, and my plans for it.

I recent decided towards the end of December that I wanted to be strong. I don't mean look strong. I mean BE STRONG. I wanted to be able to jump and flip around like the TappBrothers on Youtube. I wanted to be able to recreate the many feats that Bruce Lee once did in his life time. More than anything, I wanted to take advantage of my youth.

The saying is cliche, but still true no less. You're only young once. Being that I'm, getting older, I wanted to be able to at least once in my life, reach a peak level of fitness to see what my genetic limit was. I have a healthy body blessed to me by God. I don't have any medical conditions or problems breathing or disorders...so why not use this body and try to push it to it's limit? Okay. Maybe not it's limit, but close enough.

However as I started thinking about making this blog I wondered, what if it could be more than just fitness? Instead of simply talking about fitness facts, or exercises, what if I used this blog to write about philosophy as well? This way I could train not only my body, but my mind as well!

What got me motivated into the creation of this blog was honestly something that probably gets a lot of people. I wanted to help people. What better way to do that than to give them small, easy to digest reading material, you can gaze at while at work.

I'll still be creating long videos on my Youtube channel, BASSFZz, but here will be the shorter articles I will write talking about my fitness journey. I'll go over what exercises I'm doing, why I'm doing them, and I trying to create a program I think anyone can emulate to obtain that raw, explosive, Bruce Lee like power, quickly and efficiently, without ANY MONEY from the gym or equipment.

I will try to write one to two articles each way, focusing on both Philosophy and Fitness. I want us all to grow stronger in both body and mind.
